“Personal transformation can and does have global effects. As we go, so goes the world, for the world is us. The revolution that will save the world is ultimately a personal one.”  Marianne Williamson

ASD Sports Club

We were approached about offering a Sports Club for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We have just finished our second year and have already planned new sessions for the coming year. The children enjoy the various sports tasters while their parents enjoy tea/coffee and some encouraging banter. It has become a supportive group for the parents too as they share their family’s journey with autism. The parents plan group activities during non term time to help provide consistent fellowship for themselves and the children.

The group has been able to participate in residential weekends in Oban for some family time. These trips were sponsored by the Provident Good Neighbor Programme and the group was hosted by Scottish Youth Hostel Association (SYHA). These trips have been a real catalyst in strengthening group dynamics and deepening friendships. Parents and children have tried new activities and as a result have found new hobbies.
